At approximately 6:30 PM on Sunday April 15, 2007, I along with six other council members called an emergency meeting of the City Council to declare a State of Emergency in the City of Hoboken. This action was necessary to ensure the safety and well being of all the residents and their property in the City. We took this action because the Mayor was negligent in his duties either because he thought it was unnecessary or he could not make the decision. My opponent, who is supported by the Mayor, claims in a recent newspaper advertisement that he “built” the Shop Rite Supermarket. As the video to the right demonstrates, if he built the Shop Rite then he neglected to “build” the necessary infrastructure to ensure the safety of our neighbors and their property. We must take action to stop the over-development of our city and send a clear message to the Mayor and developers like my opponent, Frank Raia, that we will not allow this type of development in our Ward.
